Notice to Employers: Changes to EFTPS Login

Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA)

Effective October 19th, 2023, in compliance with Treasury mandates and security best practices, users are required to utilize Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) to access EFTPS. The new authentication process supports Executive Order 14028, requiring all federal agency applications to implement MFA.

This provides an additional layer of security, protecting EFTPS and its users against unauthorized access threats by partnering with third-party credential service providers. Upon logging in to this site, you will be redirected to a separate page and prompted to register and/or authenticate with a Credential Service Provider, ID.me or Login.gov. Federal Agency users have the option to utilize PIV/CAC to authenticate. Upon completion of this step, you will be redirected back to EFTPS to input your EIN or SSN, PIN, and Password.

  • How do I register?
Upon logging in to this site, you will be prompted to register and/or authenticate with either Login.gov or ID.me, prior to the normal process of inputting your EIN or SSN, PIN, and password.

  • Where can I go for help?
For assistance with Login.gov please call the Login.gov help desk at (844) 875-6446.
For assistance with ID.me visit help.ID.me.
